Strengthening Gender Equality and Primary Education:
Dhaatri is looking for a research and project assistant for our two major programmes on gender equality and elementary education for tribal children. The project assistant should facilitate field coordination and research for strengthening the capacities of women leaders and human rights defenders on gender equality and human rights advocacy in India, particularly on women’s rights to food, water and environmental safety. Communities and community organizations campaigning on protection of lands, natural resources and social security in the context of development projects, mining, forestry and agriculture will be assisted in understanding the concerns of women and in building their perspective on strengthening campaign strategies through a gender equality lens. The gender equality project links grassroots human rights campaigns with international advocacy and lobbying network on business and human rights and the international policies on right to food, water, indigenous people’s rights and environmental protection. Our advocacy programme on adivasi education is focussed on strengthening the capacities of communities in demanding for entitlements under the RTE Act, in facilitating field actions of CBO's in working with government schools and communities in improving quality of education and in lobbying with the government on tribal education.
